The Wii is a great system and without a doubt is a machine that breaks the barrier between young punk experienced gamers and the population that grew up on Atari and Nintendo64 and left the gaming scene after Zelda. It also gets the population that simply wants to get in on the gaming action that missed it all together. My mom and dad never played anything but pong and space invaders the day we opened up my Atari 2600 and they totally would love to play the Wii every once in awhile. Most certainly my dad would love the Wii. Anything that involves a remote control and the television that isn't too complex is something for every father!!
I have never ever waited in line for concert tickets, a tickle me Elmo, Cabbage patch doll, or anything else for that matter. BUT!! I did wait in line for 15 LONG minutes outside my local GameStop to get my hands on the new Wii. That is some power. Not sure what it was about the machine that made me want one so bad. I guess it was the article I read in the Wall Street Journal about some young experienced gamer that was exhausted after playing the Nintendo Wii that intrigued me the most. I just wondered how could a video game wear out some young whippersnapper at the rip old age of 16. Or maybe it was the short spots on CNBC that suggested that this system was going to bridge the gap between the gamers that are intimated by some of the over complex games that the kids are playing today that made me want to wait in line to get one. Either way I waited in line and that is a big deal for me and I just want you all to know that....!!
I did not buy that many games but I have downloaded several old school games online for the Nintendo Wii and that is so worth the wait. The only thing that really bothered me is that I soon realized that I could not play many of the games until I purchased a not included remote that resembles the older system layouts. Not a big deal but I was very frustrated that I could not play all the games I had downloaded until I found one of these remotes. Of course I had to wait a week to get one since everybody else wanted one and there were none to be found.
All I can say is that the system is fantastic and super fun and has a very nice price point in comparison to many of the other game systems. The Nintendo Wii was super easy to set up and get going. The form factor of the Wii is awesome. Very sleek and takes up very little space. The controllers are very comfortable and very responsive. I cannot recommend this system enough and highly recommend it for every age group, and I mean every age group. I don't care if you are 3 years old or 93 years old. Go out and get one.
