Let's see why the game is called shadow Wars and descover a part of the story. In some legendary times when Rune warriors are gone, a bitchy witch, mad about her husband got what he deserved made an alliance with the deads called shadows. So we got the title Shadow Wars. But the story is not so simple as you think sometime beeing surprising. Shortly, the witch invades Norcaine and using violence kills the king which is the father of the lady hero Nightsong. As we expect she become extremly mad and seeks the revange. It seems simple, the usual but the story have some thrill. The main hero is Shaikan, a combination of human and dragon. You have to discover the mistery of his race but you have to know that they can regenearte if they stand close with somebody of their race. .
Sf2 keeps the mix of RTS-RPG, balancing from one kind to another. The RPG part is simple because we can advance on two trees: combat and magic. Every tree has its categories so for the beginning you can think it's simplist but to the end you will have to choose between 1 or two masteries. You can be orientated on combat, magic or dual-class. It is not easy beeing an Shaikan. Because of his past it's hard to get allies to end the war. You will need a lot of quests or side-quests but also you recive experience points. This can be used to improve your skills but achievinig the rang of master of some discipline is conditioned by the experience at other disciplines.
Finishing talking about RPG let's see the RTS aka the gore. The producers kept and improved first's series interface. Upper left - a bunch of heroes. Clicking on an enemy reveals the posibilities for every hero. Clicking an allied hero will generate posibilities of healing or bluffs. That helps in combat because you don't have to select first the hero then the action. You will have also troops recived or made in the base. The base micromanagemebt is simplified so we have 3 resources, a diffrent building design with lower dependecies and 4 types of workers can be produced in the main building..
