PC version of Mass Effect in 2007? Not quite.

BioWare is not the kind of studio to make games 100% focused on consoles, therefore we can assume that their futuristic RPG, Mass Effect, discovered a year ago at X05, would someday come to PC. According to PC Gamer British magazine that day will come somewhere around 2007.Still, the official redaction to that news is hardly promising.

News started making waves this weekend, when a certain John G blog published some photos with the last number of the magazine followed by the next quote:

"Mass Effect will come to PC (it's currently announced for Xbox 360 only): it's not been officially confirmed but we have it on good authority. It's been three years since a BioWare developed game hit the PC: Mass Effect is a forceful reminder of why that's too damn long."

As good and promising that might sound, (coming from a respectable gaming magazine) Chris Priestly from BioWare has quickly dispelled all hope, by saying on their forum that the news "is just a rumor and BioWare does not comment rumors."

Maybe not BioWare, but plenty of fans have continued to comment until today, when Chris made a final comment before closing the topic:

"As we've said before, there is a possibility that someday in the future we might make a PC version of Mass Effect. But currently the team is putting it's [sic] effort into making the 360 Exclusive version."

Such a shame. Its been almost 3 years since BioWare have released a game on PC the last time, and besides the future Jade Empire Special Edition it might need a couple more years since they will do it again. That unless they know something about Dragon Age that we don't ..
