I have to warn those who thought that races mean spinning around a circuit with your finger pressed on acceleration an crushing the opponents as the way to advance that they have to deal with something else. This article is about how to develop your reflexes and improving the performances in a normal car race.
It's been a while from the SimBin team beginnings . The fans remember that MOD for F1 2002 called GTR 2002, an ambitious project shown on Motors TV and adopted by FIA.
Time goes by and the team starts the real money work. Based on the rhythm of releases our article is not a supposition about how good is the game because good surprises came from independent producers.
With GTR 2 the world of driving simulators gain prestige. Even if this creation is a hard-core one the producers tried and succeeded to attract new players not only the fans. The game play is not strictly technical so is not scary for a beginner. It starts with a friendly level and advances basing on the interest and the flair of the player.
There can be a comparison between this game and the concurrence. They can complain about the content ( see ToCA race Driver ) but the quality overcomes them so GTR 2 will have it's crowd of fans.
The name says all about the content, the official GT and NGT competition on two seasons ( 2003 and 2004) with 34 circuits and 140 cars.
The single player experience is astonishing both because of quality and complexity. We can see that producers released an finished product but also they crowded the game with INUTIL things. The menu can and is confusing from some point INAINTE with a clumsy interface with a lot of slides but the technical details include a section dedicate to specialist, a history of FIA, the rules and a technical dictionary.
There are a lot of settings for every tab : Video, Audio, Game, Control, Advanced etc. An improvement can be the possibility of setting the mouse as a controller for those that hasn't a joystick or a wheel and wants to try something else. The buttons controls brakes and acceleration ( if you want this) and a slight move is enough to change the car direction. It is a question of accommodation. In short time you will realize that the performance is lower than using the pad because the problem is the impossibility of keeping a constant speed. So keep tight with the pad.
